Experience Deep Relaxation at Still Point Wellness
“I often feel as though the massage is a dance with our bodies, the breath and the heartbeat.” — Robin Fann-Costanzo
Robin Fann-Costanzo was working on the cliffs of Big Sur, California at the Esalen Institute as a massage staff member, instructor and yoga teacher when she met Corey. He was also a massage staff member at the Esalen Institute and led didgeridoo meditations at the hot tubs every week.
Soon enough, Robin and Corey fell in love with the introspective Esalen way of life and each other.
“After years of studying and teaching at the Esalen Institute, we felt a call to share Esalen massage® and philosophy with the east coast, and found our way to Asheville,” Robin said.
Since its opening in 2012, Still Point Wellness: Massage & Float Spa has grown from just two massage therapists to 15 employees and now offers a variety of services including Esalen massage, salt water floatation (sensory deprivation), craniosacral therapy, somatic (body) psychology and other mind/body services — some of which you can’t find anywhere else in the Asheville area.
“We also produce world-class continuing education workshops,” Robin continued. You can learn the practice of Esalen massage from Robin herself or reclaim your power as a woman with conscious awareness leader Suzanne Scurlock.
The spa even has a few claims to fame when it comes to who they’ve serviced over the years.
Actress Kristin Wiig floated in their salt water floatation tank and then went on David Letterman and talked about her experience. Also, the picture of their float tank, taken by local photographer Taylor Johnson, was featured on Jeopardy!
Both Corey and Robin are in the World Massage Therapy Hall of Fame and personally train and mentor the massage therapists at Still Point Wellness. They are also active members of the local community here in Asheville.
Corey offers a donation-based restorative yoga class every Friday at Asheville Community Yoga, and a weekly guided didgeridoo meditation for incarcerated men at the Buncombe County Jail. Corey and Robin both also teach at a local massage school Center for Massage & Natural Health.
“We deeply value creating partnerships and collaborating with other like minded and local business owners” Robin said
Robin and Corey hope that every person who enters Still Point Wellness experiences a deep sense of safety and support for inner exploration.
“My inspiration is in the awareness that arises for my clients when they are able to drop into deep acceptance and observation of their own process of being human,” Robin said.
