Scoops Of The Week : June 25 - July 1, 2018 - Asheville, NC

Jordan Puckett Top Picks Of The Week Where To Go What To Do

We’re back again at the top of the week bringing you local events, and this time, a local artist spotlight! Last Friday, we got to spend some time with artist Megan Kelly. We were able to meet with her as she created a triple level Mandala at River Mill Lofts and talk with her about her art. You might have seen her Mandala art in downtown, and if you haven’t, we encourage you to check it out! Megan absolutely loves creating these masterpieces and is extremely humble about her talents. She uses painting to relax and clear her mind, all the while creating something amazing! We encourage you to check her out on Instagram and Facebook @megankellyart!

Now, check out a few of the locally curated Scoops from the Dig Local Scoop Calendar this week!  See the complete Scoops Calendar for where to go and what to do, everyday in Asheville on the free Dig Local App and at

If you’re looking for something to do with the kids tonight, the Asheville Tourists are hosting the Charleston Riverdogs at 7:05pm at McCormick Field. Kids eat free thanks to Acropolis Pizza, so those 12 and under will receive a drink and hot dog voucher upon entry! Make sure to bring your glove and wear your jerseys for a fun night out on the ball field!

Chestnut’s got something new in the works! This week, we’re taking a look at their Lunch Express Bowls. This Thursday, join in on a class at Highland Brewing led by Diamond Brand Outdoors' and Frugal Backpacker's outdoor experts. During this class, they will teach the fundamentals of using a map and a compass, a skill left in the past due to various GPS apps. This skill is an awesome tool to know, and what better way to learn about it than on Highland’s Rooftop surrounded by the views of Western North Carolina.

Join Claying Around for their Canvas Paint night starting at 6:30 and ending at 9pm. This is a guided class with step by step instruction to help you create a beautiful canvas painting. There will also be wine and snacks so you’re sure to have a great time!

This Saturday, the Asheville Masonic Temple is hosting the Helpmate Benefit Concert. Helpmate is a domestic violence agency, helping those in need by providing safety, shelter, and support. This concert features Tina and Her Pony, The Moon and You, Jeff Thompson, and Alex Krug and begins at 6:30 with doors opening at 6. So come out, bring friends and have a great time, while supporting a great cause.
